Small Vetiver Basket

These unique baskets, reminiscent of birds-nests, are handwoven Madagascan crafts families. These stunningly detailed baskets are woven with 100% Vetiver root. The Vetiver plant which is widely cultivated in Madagascar, is most commonly known for its aromatic oils which are staples of the perfume industry. After being processed for its oils the fibrous roots can then be dried and woven into these baskets which retain the plants signature earthy scent. While their calming aroma is prized by many, Vetiver plants also play an important role in land stabilization and prevention of erosion in Madagascar.
