Vetiver is widely cultivated in Madagascar and is perhaps best known for its extraordinary fragrance — warm, earthy, woody and quietly grounding.

The roots of the vetiver plant are prized for the aromatic oil used in fine perfumery. After processing, the fibrous roots can be dried and woven by hand into these delicate baskets, where they retain that unmistakable earthy scent.
